How To Reach Chopta From Delhi / Haridwar Or Rishikesh?

Chopta is a beautiful hill station located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, 440 km from Delhi and 190 km from Rishikesh. You can reach Chopta by road, train, or air.

By Road

Chopta is well connected by road via NH58 (Rishikesh–Rudraprayag) and NH107 (Rudraprayag–Chopta). A taxi is recommended from Haridwar/Rishikesh. Buses from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Rishikesh, Haridwar, Rudraprayag, Srinagar. No direct bus to Chopta; take bus till Ukhimath, Guptkashi, or Gopeshwar.

Road Route: Delhi → Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag (Kedarnath Road) → Augustmuni → Kund (left to Ukhimath) → Ukhimath Cut → Mastura → Makku Bend → Duggalbitta → Baniyakund → Chopta

By Train

Nearest railway station: Haridwar Junction (225 km) or Rishikesh (200 km). Hire a taxi from there.

By Air

Nearest airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (220 km). From there, hire a taxi to Chopta Resort in Baniyakund.

Location of Chopta

Near Ukhimath Block Town in Rudraprayag District. On NH 107 connecting Ukhimath to Gopeshwar/Kedarnath–Badrinath highway. Alpine meadows and evergreen forest under Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.

Reaching Chopta in Winters

Roads may close 1–8 km before Chopta depending on snow. Book hotels before Chopta station like Duggalbitta; walk to property.

NOTE: Groups of 4–5+ should book taxi from Haridwar/Rishikesh round-trip (~Rs 2000 max) to save time. Chopta by public transport is not directly connected. One bus from Guptkashi/Ukhimath to Chopta (6:30 am from Guptkashi, return Gopeshwar 12:30 pm).
